Showcasing some of my favorite artists, along with others who are new to me, First Street Green Art Park — located where  Manhattan’s Lower East Side meets the East Village — is one of our city’s treasures. The Grandscale Mural Project Continues to Bring Beauty and Intrigue to East Harlem, Part I: Gia, Olga Correa, Scratch, Cekis, Caryn Cast, Cram Concepts, Anna Lustberg & BC1 with Al Ruiz

The Grandscale Mural Project is once again transforming the streets of East Harlem into an oasis of beauty and intrigue. While visiting this past Sunday, I came upon dozens of completed walls, along with dozens of works in progress representing a wide range of styles and themes. Featured above is the lovely Colombia-born, East Harlem-based artist Gia Gutierrez — standing to the right of her newly-completed mural. Several more images captured this past Sunday follow:

First Street Green Art Park, one of my favorite spots in town, not only introduces me to a wide range of artists who are new to me, but also showcases works by those who’ve been making their mark on the streets for years. During the past several weeks, over a dozen intriguing murals have surfaced at First Street Green Art Park. Fashioned by local, national and international artists, they reflect a huge range of styles and sensibilities, The now-iconic image featured above is the work of the nomadic Nite Owl. Centre-Fuge Public Art Project — Cycle 6 — explodes with vivid colors and abstract patterns

The once-abandoned trailer on East First Street off First Avenue in Manhattan has been transformed once again.  With assistance from the young members of Cre8tive YouTH*ink, a creative arts youth development organization, it currently showcases a vibrant mix of styles from over 20 artists who had participated in the Centre-Fuge Public Art Project‘s first five cycles.
