While in San Jose for this year’s POW! WOW! festival, travel and street photographer Karin du Maire aka Street Art Nomad had the opportunity to explore the city’s intriguingly diverse street art. Featured above is the work of LA-based artist El Mac, Sophie Holding the World Together, commissioned in 2017 by San Jose Museum of Art in collaboration with The Propeller Group and Empire Seven Studios. The streets of North Philly are rich with a range of public art — from commissioned murals to first-rate graffiti. The image pictured above was painted by Philadelphia-based artist Yis Goodwin aka Nosego. Several more images captured on my recent visits to Philly follow:

Boundless Brooklyn & myplasticheart Present Water Towers Designed by: NoseGo, the Drif, Toofly, Rob Plater, Darkcloud, Stencil1 & more

Over two dozen talented toy designers and graphic artists  — many of whom also work on the streets — customized water tower models using Boundless Brooklyn’s Water Tower kits.  The results are on exhibit through November 21 at myplasticheart at 210 Forsyth Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.  Here are a few more images by those artists who also use the streets as their canvas:

“Sur-Real” at Woodward Gallery with NoseGo, Kosby, Buildmore, Kenji Nakayama, stikman and more

Woodward Gallery launched its 20th Anniversary in early January with the group exhibition Sur-Real, a fantastical foray into the subconscious. And, alongside such notable artists as Margaret Morrison, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist and Andy Warhol, are some of our favorites who continue to maintain a presence in our streets.
