July 13, 2022

Working in partnership with UNITAR to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents by 2030, Street Art for Mankind has brought a huge, hugely impressive new mural to Midtown Manhattan. Created by the wonderfully talented Dragon 76, it spans 5,200 square feet at the crossing of Tunnel Exit Street and 39th Street. Several more images of the monumental mural follow:

This is SOOOO important. Tools to improve awareness of increased danger due to mobility issues are an important part of the solution. If you don’t know, can’t deal with the woe.

The artist is playing a joke on the UN by putting a race car with a turbo charged engine like on Fast and the Furious on a mural that is supposed to be about road safety.
The color is bright orange doesn’t fit in with anything in the surrounding environment of the block, there are np loud colors anywhere
Black dude is in the car and everybody has goggles on like they are about to race or are part of some extreme sports team.
Meanwhile this is a quiet block in an area which is 99% white conservatives types with jobs in finance. And skateboards like the other figure in the painting is holding are highly rare in this neighborhood.
The turbo charged car does not communicate road safety despite the fact that is says “19 speed” on the windshield
So this must be a joke by the artist on the white privileged types who live in this neighborhood as well the concept of road safety, a turbocharged race car with smoke coming out of the engine about to go 0 to 60 in 3 seconds
