WK Interact Pop-Up Exhibit Celebrates Book Release of WK/ACT4 and 25 Years of Art

A pop-up exhibit — celebrating the release of WK‘s fourth book WK/ACT4 (DRAGO) and the launch of his partnership with KLINIK — opened on Tuesday evening at The Garage in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. A huge range of work — from mixed-media installations to huge murals — is featured. Here’s a sampling:

The exhibit continues until Wednesday at 22 Little West 12th Street. It remains open from 12 – 6pm.

French Stencil Artist Kurar at Chelsea’s Artemisia Gallery through 10.21

Based in France, Kurar crafts visually and conceptually engaging stencils. Often incorporating graffiti elements, they frequently take on such contentious subjects as politics and consumerism. Here are a few more images from his exhibit – on view through October 21 at Chelsea’s Artemisia Gallery.

José Parlá’s Solo Exhibition “In Medias Res” Continues through Saturday at Chelsea’s Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery

Pop International Galleries Showcases UR New York’s New Works in “Product of UR Environment”

UR New York has fashioned an amazing array of works in a range of media for their newest exhibit, Product of UR Environment, that opened this past Thursday evening. On view at Pop International Galleries at 473 West Broadway in SoHo, Mike Baca’s (aka 2Esae) and Fernando Romero’s (aka Ski) pieces on a range of surfaces — from spray cans to found objects to canvases — brilliantly reflect NYC’s distinct grit and the passion that it rouses. Montreal-Based Stikki Peaches Brings a “Hot Mess” to NYC

For the past few days, we New Yorkers have been treated to a Hot Mess, the wildly expressive aesthetic of Montreal-based Stikki Peaches. Brought to us by Station 16, a Hot Mess, Stikki Peaches‘s first international exhibit, found a transitory home here at 345 Broome Street. Here are a few more images:

“Strada Veloce” Continues through October 5 at Dorian Grey Gallery with Cope2, Crash, Joe Mac Lapadula, Nick Walker, Meres and more

Currently on view at Dorian Grey Gallery in the East Village is Strada Veloce, an intriguing exhibit largely fusing the divergent — seemingly contradictory — cultures of luxury autos and expressive graffiti. Here are a few more works (Cope2 pictured above):

Jersey City’s Mana Contemporary Presents: Erró: American Comics

“Works of art in public spaces can have a highly beneficial effect upon the environment – beautifying it, sparking debate, and nurturing public interest in visual art,” concluded Reykjavik’s Executive City Council in a recently released report. Among those artists selected to add style and intrigue to apartment building walls of Iceland’s capital is the celebrated Icelandic pop artist Erró. As there has always been somewhat of a crossover between street art and comic art, the choice seems perfect. And here at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, a short ride from downtown Manhattan, an exhibit of the celebrated artist’s works, presented by Galerie Ernst Hilger, opens tomorrow.

Mana Contemporary is providing free shuttle service to us New Yorkers to and from tomorrow’s 1pm opening. Buses depart every half hour starting at 12:30pm from Milk Studios at 450 West 15th Street.

“BQE: Brooklyn Queens Elite” Continues through Sunday at Dumbo’s PowerHouse Arena with: Ambi67, UR New York, Alice Mizrachi, KEL 5MH, David Cooper, Cernesto & more

Featuring the artwork of a dozen talented Brooklyn and Queens natives, BQE: Brooklyn Queens Elite continues through this Sunday, August 24th at Dumbo’s powerHouse Arena. Here are a few more images from this exhibit curated by Queens native Yvette “Yvey” Hidalgo.

Included, too, are works by Ernie Paniccioli, Greg Larmache, Olivia Jarowski-Lovera, TooFly, Tommy Rebel and WRY TCK. The powerHouse Arena, also home to a wonderful bookstore and more, is located at 37 Main Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

21st Precinct Art Exhibit to Open Tonight with Esteban Del Valle, Sheryo and the Yok, N. Carlos Jay, Nepo, Chris Soria, RAE, Ghost, GIZ and Duel, Pixote, Lorenzo Masnah APC and more

Curated by Robert Aloia, along with VNA Magazine, Beau, Todd Masters, NY St. Gallery and Suzuki Capital LLC, 21^st Precinct opens this evening at the former space of the 21^st Precinct at 327 East 22^nd Street. Reminiscent of this past winter’s Surplus Candy – although on a much larger scale – dozens of artists have transformed five stories into an expressive, inventive canvas charged with unfettered energy. What follows is a small sampling of close-ups from larger installations:

In Harlem at La Maison d’Art with T-Kid, MRS, Oeno, Royce Bannon, Linus Coraggio and more

La Maison d’Art, a lovely guesthouse on West 132 Street in Harlem, is also home to some intriguing art. On exhibit in its indoor gallery through August 28 is “GETTING UP!” — the Evolution of Graffiti. Here is a small sampling of what is on display:
